A Visit at the Imposing Red Beach

Without a doubt, the most famous and unique beach of Santorini! Due to the lava flows, many places on the island have formed some extraordinary scenes that make Santorini a majestic place to be. Red and black steep rocks frame this small bay with crystal clear water and colorful pebble beach. Half an hour away from Imerovigli, you can drive to Akrotiri or even better take a boat that will take you directly to the Red Beach. In case you wish to make a day out of it, you may first visit the ancient ruins of Akrotiri city and then prepare to be amazed at nature’s ancient rage. The beach is relatively small therefore during peak summer season many tourists will find their way to its sunbeds and umbrellas. Pack a bag with all the necessary equipment, definitely water and perhaps something light to eat and spend there your entire day, just swimming and enjoying the sun under the austere presence of the red rocks.

The access by car is relatively easy. You may leave your car by the parking space, grab your things and start the descent to the beach. In only two minutes you will find yourselves at spot and with a little bit of luck there will be enough space for you and your company.

As for any possible danger, there are signs that advise you not to visit the beach, however many oppose and choose to spend their day at the Red Beach. Strong fences are there to protect you from any rock falling – though no incident has ever occurred.
